No doubt you’ve heard plenty of people talking about craps. After all, it is one of the most popular betting game in America and one of the most popular games in the world. However, if you don’t know how to play it, it can all seem a little complicated. If you watch a craps game without understanding the rules of play, chances are you’ll be confused after the first roll. So, is craps really that complicated? Definitely not; in fact, when you understand the rules of craps, it is a remarkably simple game. Craps rules just take a little practice to get down; once you have them under your belt, you’ll be throwing the winning dice in no time.
The Basic Craps Rules To understand the basic craps rules, you first have to understand the player and their roles. There are just two roles in craps. The first role is the shooter. The shooter is the one person who roles the dice throughout the whole game. The shooter does not bet. The other role is that of the betters. Any number of people can bet on a game. Before the dice is thrown, the betters have to settle on their bets. They can beat in a two different ways. They can vote “Pass” or “Don’t Pass”, which means they will win if the first bet is a 7 or 11 or a 2, 3, 012, respectively. After the bets, the shoots rolls what is called the “come out roll.” If any of the numbers listed above happen and someone wins their bet, then the game is over. If another number is rolled, this number is called the “point.” The point gives another opportunity to bet. The shooter must roll either the same point or a 7 for the game to end, and players can bet on which they believe will happen. The game goes on until a 7 or the point is rolled. The game can end with everyone winning, everyone losing, or some people winning and some people losing. Advanced Craps Rules The craps rules above cover the basics, but there are rules for more advanced games, and especially for different kinds of games. For instance, the rules of street craps differ from the rules for casino craps. The internet is a great place to learn about all of the craps rules variations, from casino craps rules to street craps rules. |
